Anthony Dyer is a decorated combat aviator turned author, writing and speaking so the mental health cost of war stops being invisible.
Anthony Dyer is a former U.S. Air Force special missions aviator with over 2,700 flight hours and more than 200 combat missions across a decade of special operations aviation. He flew high-risk missions around the globe, earning multiple accolades including the Air Force’s Jolly Green Rescue Mission of the Year in 2018.
Originally from Sylva, North Carolina in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, Anthony brings the same courage and grit that defined his military career to his work as an author and mental health advocate.

Now based in New Mexico, Anthony speaks and writes to break the stigma around mental health in the military, aviation, and veteran communities. His debut memoir, Moonchild, is a raw and compelling look at war, trauma, addiction, and recovery — shedding light on the invisible battles many veterans and service members face.
When he’s not writing, he enjoys fishing, basketball, and spending time with his wife and children.
“War doesn’t end when you come home. Moonchild is my attempt to make sense of what stayed with me — and to give the people carrying the same weight a way to talk about it.”

The roots and wings of a USAF combat special missions aviator — the story behind the uniform.
